RUSSIA INTENDS TO DEVELOP MILITARY COOPERATION WITH NIGERIA MOSCOW, 6 March. /RIA Novosti correspondent Aleksander Konovalov/. On Tuesday during his meeting with his Nigerian counterpart Teophilus Yakubu Danjuma Igor Sergeyev, Defense minister of Russia stated that the Russian defense ministry intended to develop comprehensive military and military-technical cooperation with Nigeria. In the opinion of Sergeyev, such cooperation "will greatly influence the process of stabilization of the situation in the African region and in the whole world." According to the Russian minister, "Russia and Nigeria's views on the most important international problems are quite similar", and they, in particular, "do not accept the future unipolar world". Sergeyev stated that "our policy is aimed at the establishment of a multi-polar world where every country might find its place and defend its national interests". The Defense minister of Nigeria in his turn indicated that his country was interested in acquisition of modern Russian arms and military equipment, in modernization of Soviet-made armaments and equipment Nigerian armed forces are armed with, as well as in training of Nigerian servicemen in military educational institutions of Russia.
