FIRST RUSSIAN-SPEAKING BROADCASTING STATION ON THE AIR IN MONGOLIA ULAN BATOR, MARCH 6, 2001. /RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT ALEXANDER ALTMAN/. The first Russian-speaking ultra-short waves broadcasting station Pulse Misheel is on the air. A formal opening ceremony was held on Tuesday in Ulan Bator. Pulse Misheel is a joint venture set up by Mongolian Radio and Radio Buryatia, Russian region bordering on Mongolia. President of Buriatia Leonid Potapov also took part in the opening ceremony, this RIA Novosti correspondent reports. The Russian-speaking radio-station in Mongolia is the evidence of "close cultural as well as economic ties". Pulse Misheel will make these friendly relationships ever closer, he stressed in his welcome address to radio listeners. The broadcasting of this radio station will cater to Mongolian pupils and students studying Russian, businessmen doing business on the Russian market, and also to the Russian citizens living in Mongolia.
