REFERENDUM ON NEW CONSTITUTION TO BE HELD IN TYVA KYZYL, MARCH 6, 2001. /RIA Novosti correspondent Dina Oyun/ -- A referendum on the draft of a new Constitution of the Republic of Tyva (South Siberia) within the Russian Federation will be held on May 6. Such a decision was made on Tuesday by the Supreme Khural (parliament) of the republic. Participants in the referendum will have to answer the only question: "Do you accept the Constitution of the Republic of Tyva?" The draft fundamental law has already been published in the local media. Compared with the incumbent Constitution adopted in 1993 the draft lacks a provision on the republic's state sovereignty and envisages private property on land. The draft also stipulates the creation of a two-house parliament and annuls the post of the republic's president.
