RESCUERS SEARCHING MORE THAN 60 PEOPLE IN GULF OF FINLAND ST.PETERSBURG, MARCH 6, 2001 /RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT SVETLANA CHIKIROVA/ -- Rescue teams are searching for 65 fishermen drifting on ice-floes in the Gulf of Finland, Leningrad region, North-West. According to Tuesday's report of the press center of the Emergency Situations and Civil Defence Main Department, the rescuers first received the information about a drifting ice block with 16 fishermen on in the area of the Lebyazhye settlement. Then, another ice-floe was reported carrying approximately 50 people. The Kapitan Plakhin ice-breaker and a helicopter are involved in the salvation. Unfortunately, the people have not been found by the moment. The salvage operation is going on.
