STAVROPOL TERRITORY RESIDENTS ARE DIAGNOSED WITH "2-A" TYPE OF DYSENTERY STAVROPOL, MARCH 5, RIA NOVOSTI. Over the last week, 375 residents of the Chernolesskaya village in the Stavropol Territory, including 199 children under 14, who applied for medical assistance were diagnosed with "2-A" type of dysentery. This is a very dangerous type of the disease, doctors told a news conference held on the premises of the Stavropol government building Monday. As of today 127 people, including 88 children, are hospitalized. The mass poisoning was caused by an anti-sanitary condition of the water pipeline transporting fresh water to the settlement. The pipeline has not been repaired for more than 35 years and due to wear of metal sewage industrial and cattle-breeding farms' waste are getting inside it constantly threatening health of people. According to the information provided by the press service of the North Caucasus regional center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the disease was triggered by Fleksner shigella. Fresh water is being so far delivered to the settlement in cisterns.
