SAKHALIN SEARCHES FOR MISSING BUS WITH 17 PEOPLE ON BOARD MOSCOW, March 5, 2001. /From RIA Novosti correspondent/--It has been almost 24 hours since rescue services of Russia's Far-Eastern island of Sakhalin were sent out to search for a missing bus with 17 passengers on board. Sunday evening, reports the press service of the Russian emergencies ministry, the bus bearing a volleyball team set out for the town of Uglegorsk but never arrived at its destination. According to the emergencies ministry, snow-drifts caused by the cyclone raging above Sakhalin might have caused an accident.
