VICE PRESIDENT OF JAPAN-RUSSIA SOCIETY DECORATED WITH RUSSIAN ORDER OF FRIENDSHIP TOKYO, MARCH 5, 2001 /FROM RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT VYACHESLAV BANTIN/ -- In Tokyo Russian Ambassador to Japan Alexander Panov has decorated well-known public figure and Vice-President of the Japan-Russia Society Toshihara Okada with an Order of Friendship. Such people as Toshihara Okada are a great help now when Russo-Japanese relations are about to reach a higher level, said the Russian Ambassador during the decoration ceremony. Cementing and developing the Russo-Japanese ties meet the interests of the two nations and make a notable contribution to higher stability and prosperity in the region, Mr Okada stressed in his remarks. According to the presidential decree of November 2000, Toshihara Okada is to be decorated with the Russian Order of Friendship for his prominent contribution to developing the Russian-Japanese relations.
