THE FIRST JEWISH HIGH SCHOOL IN THE CITY WILL BE OPENED IN YEKATERINBURG MOSCOW, March 4. /RIA Novosti correspondent/. A delegation of the heads of the Jewish communities of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), led by Chief Rabbi of Russia Berl Lazar and President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of the CIS Levi Levayev, is leaving today for Yekaterinburg (Central Ural, the centre of the Sverdlovsk Region). As RIA Novosti was told by Berl Lazar's press secretary Borukh Gorin, this visit has been timed for the opening of the first Jewish general educational high school in the city. It is expected that the opening ceremony will be attended by governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Eduard Rossel. The delegation will arrive in Yekaterinburg at the invitation of Chief Rabbi of Yekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk Region Zelig Ashkenazi. On Monday, March 5, the members of the delegation will take part in the ceremony of laying the first stone of the synagogue of the Jewish communal centre.
