KUZBAS HAS MORE THAN 60 ECOLOGICALLY UNSAFE SITES

To date the Kuzbass (a mining area in southern Siberia) has more than 60 ecologically unsafe sites and 900 more that are of a potential danger. Such statistics were unveiled in the regional administration at a conference on urgent measures to ensure ecological safety in the region.


	Among the most "dangerous sites" specialists include ownerless water reservoirs, ponds and structurally unsafe hydro-engineering structures, fuel and lubricant depots, and accumulated gold mining waste. They pose particular risks ahead of spring floods.
