As it has become known today, the incident took place on the night of March 1. The plane with two pilots on board was surveying terrain in the area of the Macedonian village of Tanusevci, where Albanian separatists are operating. This village is situated close to the border with Kosovo. About 400 shots were made from a machine-gun with tracer bullets. During the shooting the KFOR air-control center lost contact with the plane and asked the Macedonian air force for help. Nevertheless, the pilots managed to land the plane at their base in Kosovo.
