ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MINISTER REFUTES RUMOURS ABOUT THE COMING ABOLITION OF A NUMBER OF MINISTRIES MOSCOW, March 2, 2001. /RIA Novosti correspondent/ - Russian Minister of Economic Development Gherman Gref refutes the rumours about the coming abolition of a number of ministries and government departments in view of the measures for de-bureaucratising the Russian economy. At a briefing which followed a session of the Cabinet of Ministers, Gherman Gref said that what was meant "is the search for unnecessary points of state regulation." According to the Minister, in case of the necessity to cut down more than 200 types of licensing, appropriate bodies supervising these types will be respectively abolished. "This procedure will not concern ministries," underscored Gherman Gref. According to him, most likely, inspection and control organisations will be abolished. -O- (kos/kri) 02/03/01 16:21
