EU EARMARKS 46 MLN EUROS FOR YOUTH PROJECTS IN RUSSIA MOSCOW, MARCH 2, 2001. /FROM RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT ALEXANDER IVASHCHENKO/ -- In the 1996-1999 period the European Union allotted 46 million euros for youth-assisting projects of Russia, said Richard Wright, a EU Commissioner to Russia. Appearing at a joint Russia-EU youth summit in Moscow, Richard Wright stressed that these funds had been allocated as part of the TACIS program and were meant for healthcare, employment and education projects. Speaking at the summit was also Director of the TACIS program Timo Summa who said that plans called to single out several pivotal joint projects on providing support for youngsters, each amounting to 1-10 million euros. Of high significance will be Russian government's priorities in youth policies, noted Timo Summa.
