CZECHIA DELAYS EXTRADITION OF RUSSIAN TERRORIST MOSCOW, March 2, 2001. /From RIA Novosti's Yelena Ivanova/. Russia has called on the Czech authorities to speed up the extradition of Russian citizen Sergei Maximenko, who is suspected in Russia of committing several terrorist acts. He was arrested in Czechia several months ago. Spokesman for the Russian prosecutor-general's office Vladimir Kolesnikov told a press conference in Moscow on Friday that it had promptly sent all the documents necessary for the extradition of this person, however, "the process is being delayed for some reason." According to some data, the criminal has asked for political asylum in Czechia.
