USA, NATO DENY PLANS TO OCCUPY SOUTHERN SERBIA WASHINGTON, MARCH 2, 2001, /RIA-NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT KIRILL GLEBOV/ -- Neither the United States, nor NATO are studying the possibility of spreading their military presence in Kosovo to southern Serbia. This was disclosed to reporters here the other day by Pentagon's spokesman Rear Admiral Craig Quigley. In his words, the United States is now determined to preserve its military presence within the framework of the KFOR contingent and strictly inside Kosovo. According to Quigley, he knows nothing about the French Defense Ministry's statement as regards talks, which involve countries now taking part in the Kosovo peace-keeping operation, and which concern the possible expansion of their military presence to southern Serbia.
