ALL-RUSSIAN COMPETITION "WOMAN-MANAGER OF THE YEAR" MOSCOW, MARCH 1, 2001. /From RIA Novosti Correspondent Maria Balynina/. More than 200 Russian women-managers of enterprises from 48 regions of the country took part in the competition "Woman-Manager of the Year." Its results were summed up on the eve of March 8, when "women's day" is marked in Russia. The competition was organized by the Association of Russian Businesswomen. Taking part in the competition were women-managers of small- and medium-size businesses, working in different spheres, including in education, agriculture, women-bankers and women-heads of research associations. Among the winners of the competition were also heads of district administrations of Federation constituents. This was the fourth competition of the kind. Its aim is to show the role that women-leaders play in Russian society. The competition also pursued the aim of making known the most successful businesswomen who have achieved tangible results as heads of an enterprise or a company. The winners of the competition paid attention to the fact that so far the attitudes to women-managers are mixed. Women are not in an equal position with men, which is proved by the low percentage of women in Russia's bodies of state power. The organization of such competitions is meant to attract attention to that situation and, if possible, to change it, say women.
