The SOMLib Digital Library - Related Projects
A number of sub-projects are related to or form a major part of the SOMeJB project, which include the following:
- SOMLib Digital Library System
The SOMLib Digital Library aims at the development of a digital library system supporting intuitive, user friendly browsing of document collections by combining the benefits of conventional library organisation with the possibilities offered by digital collections. Like the SOMeJB system, it is based on the self-organizing map (SOM), a popular unsupervised neural network, used to organize documents by content into bookshelves. Metaphor graphics facilitate the intuitive representation of the resulting document archive, allowing users to get an instant overview of its content and characteristics.
- GHSOM
A growing hierarchical version of the self-organizing map, which completely adapts itself to the input space, creating a hierarchy of maps of different sizes according to the provided data.
- GHSOM toolbox for Matlab
The GHSOM (Growing Hierarchical Self-Organizing Map) Toolbox is a library of functions for Matlab 5 or higher implementing the GHSOM functionality.
- Islands of Music
This project basically constitutes the core of the second prototype version of the SOMeJB system, covering feature extraction and preprocessing according to psycho-acoustic models of audition. Islands of Music are a graphical user interface to music collections based on a metaphor of geographic maps.
- SOMeJB Prototype 1
A copy of the original project webpages of the first prototype of the SOMeJB system is available in the archive, containing a description of the principle ideas of the system, a guide on how to set it up and run experiments, as well as experimental results.
(Only a locally cached copy of the project website is available in the local projects archive, original site does not exist anymore)
