The Influence of Internet Hypes on Multimedia Information Retrieval Research?: This panel will address the phenomena around various Internet hypes, such as Twitter messaging service, search platforms like Google, or content sharing and social networking platforms like YouTube or Flickr, and discuss the influence these hypes have on the nature, relevance and long-term impact of the research conducted in the multimedia information retrieval community.
22 - 25 Feb 2010 - PetaMedia Spring School The First Spring School on Social Media Retrieval (S3MR), currently being organized by PetaMedia, will take place at the Hotel Metropole in Interlaken, Switzerland. The Spring School aims at bringing together young researchers from neighbouring disciplines, offering (1) lectures delivered by experts from academy and industry providing a clear and in-depth summary of state-of-the-art research in social media retrieval and (2) collaborative projects in small groups providing hands-on experience on integrative work on selected problems from the field.
