Work Package WP2: OLAP engine

WP co-ordinator: VUT

Objectives:

The objective of the work package is to analyse shortcomings of current OLAP engine, to specify, design and implement necessary modifications. It also provides the specification, design and implementation of simulation module.

Tasks:

2.1 Analysis of spatial data aggregation techniques

Responsible: CTU

Partner: VUT, LUM

Objective: To analyse and identify useful aggregation techniques in order to handle extras of geographical data.

Deliverable: Technical report TR1 – “Comparative study of spatial data aggregation techniques”

Dissemination: 1 overview paper

2.2 Metadata language specification

Responsible: VUT

Partner: CTU

Objective: Metadata language for data description will be defined. It will be used by transformation module and by OLAP engine.

Deliverable: Technical report TR2 – “Metadata language specification”

2.3 Specification of OLAP modifications

Responsible: VUT

Partners: CTU, UE

Objective: The current model of OLAP engine will be generalised in order to handle geographical relationships (using the specification TR13) and to overcome the shortcomings of current OLAP. Exact specification of necessary modifications for new OLAP.

Deliverable: Technical report TR3 – “Analysis of OLAP modifications”

2.4 Implementation of OLAP modifications

Responsible: VUT

Partner: CTU

Objective: A new OLAP engine will be implemented. The specification TR3 should be fulfilled.

Deliverables:

·       Software prototype SP1– “Prototype of modified OLAP (ver. 1)”

·       Software prototype SP3 – “Prototype of modified OLAP (ver. 2)”

2.5 Simulation module specification and documentation

Responsible: CTU

Partners: CERT, VUT

Objective: The specification of a simulation module interpreting knowledge extracted by KDD tools (WP4) will be developed. Its functionality and interfaces with data warehouse and geographical information system will be defined.

Deliverable: Technical report TR14 – “Simulation module specification and documentation”

2.6 Implementation of simulation module prototype

Responsible: CERT

Partners: VUT, CTU

Objective: A simulation module will be implemented. The specification TR14 should be fulfilled.

Deliverable: Software prototype SP6 – “Prototype of simulation module”

Dissemination: 2 conference papers
