ALBANIAN GUNMEN HIT MACEDONIAN CONVOY BELGRADE, March 9, 2001 /Sergei Ryabikin, RIA Novosti Correspondent/ -- One Macedonian policeman was killed as a police convoy came under fire from Albanian gunmen near a border town of Kumanovo Thursday night, Macedonian Interior Ministry spokesman said. According to verified reports, the gunmen hit the sixth vehicle in the column with a shoulder-launched grenade. The jeep driver died on the spot. The convoy was nearing the village of Gosinca, which Secretary of State in the Macedonian Interior Ministry, Ljube Boskovski, had visited shortly before, along with Macedonian Deputy Interior Minister. No high-ranking policemen were in the column during the attack. Assault rifles and grenade launchers were used by the gunmen.
