RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY URGES THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL TO PUT AN END TO ACTS OF PROVOCATION BY ALBANIAN EXTREMISTS MOSCOW, March 8, 2001. /RIA Novosti correspondent Aleksander Smotrov/. The UNSC should put an end to acts of provocation by Albanian extremists in northern Macedonia, reads the statement sent by the Press and Information Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry to UNSC, which is responsible for maintaining international peace and security. The Russian Foreign ministry welcomes the statement adopted the day before by a UNSC official session. This statement has condemned violence, to which the armed Albanian extremists have resorted. The violence must be stopped, runs the statement. The Russian foreign ministry stressed that if the provocations of Albanian extremists in Macedonia continue, the UNSC would have to take necessary measures.
