" RUSSIAN WEEK " IN WASHINGTON

Arkadi Orlow /. an exhibition of work of the Russian painter Nikolai
Timkow takes place in the headquarters of the organization of American
States of (OAS) in Washington.  Their initialization became the
official at the beginning of the " Russian week ", which is already
organized in this international organization for six years.

With the initialization of the " week " acting OAS Secretary-General
Luigi Einaudi and Ambassador Russlands in the USA Juri Uschakow spoke.


In its speech Uschakow underlined that Russia estimates its mutual
relations with the OAS very highly and to co-operation in a whole
number of most important areas, inclusive regional stability, human
rights, fight against the drug trade and the terrorism, judges this
international organization for singular forum.

The Ambassador also communicated that on decision of the Russian
government for the OAS member countries in this year 25 of grants for
the formation by specialists from these countries in Russia had been
supplied.

The OAS members are inclusive of 34 states of north and South America,
the USA and Canada.  Russia received and takes part the status of the
constant observer to 1992 at this organization since that time
regularly in the OAS work.
