SWEDEN ATTACHES GREAT IMPORTANCE TO THE STOCKHOLM ATTENDANCE OF THE
RUSSIAN PRAESIDNETEN








PARIS, 6 March.  (RIA "Nowosti" rIA-"Nowosti"-Korrespondent Leonid
Kokowitsch).  Sweden attaches great importance as presidency-prominent
country in the European union (EU) to the forthcoming Stockholm
attendance of Russian president Vladimir Putin, which will take part
in the Summit European Union Russia.  This avowed Prime Minister
Goeran Persson after the negotiations with the French Praesidneten
Jacques Chirac, Swedish on Tuesday.

The summit European Union Russia was set in the Swedish capital for
23. - 24 March.  On the negotiations of the Russian president with the
state and heads of the government of the euro union and then on the
official meal according to Persson important questions of the
extension of economic co-operation between Russia and the EU,
particularly in the energy region, are discussed.

Besides also international problems, e.g. the position in the Middle
East, on the Balkans, the union of the two Korean states are
discussed.  Vladimir Putin could inform the European top
representatives about the current position in the Chechnian republic,
stressed the Swedish Prime Minister.

After the Summit the prominent European Union representatives become
their points of view over the social and demographic problems in the
euro union, over which food security and biotechnologies exchange as
well as over environmental protection.

Goeran Persson flew from Paris to Madrid.  The functioning European
Union chairman undertakes a journey by the metropolises of the euro
union in the context of the preparation to the forthcoming meeting in
Stockholm.
