KREMLIN ANNOUNCES COMPETITION FOR PRESIDENTIAL INTERNET PAGES MOSCOW, 7 March. /Corr. RIA Novosti/. The Kremlin has announced that a competition will be held to create Internet pages for the Russian president. RIA Novosti was told in the presidential press-service that the competition would be opened on March 12th. It was also announced in the press-service that the competition was the personal initiative of the Vladimir Putin, who suggested the idea during an Internet conference on March 6th. Russian citizens have been invited to participate in the competition, along with web-designers, programmers, professionals, amateurs, students and other users of the Russian Internet. The competition has the following regulations for the web pages: they should combine the elements of a standard Internet port with the functional characteristics of an up-to-date news channel, with the best possible presentation of the pages' contents through the use of an accessible interface. Fresh designs are also a must. Applications must be submitted by April 12th 2001 to the e-mail address: konkur(s)kremlin.ru The winner of the competition will receive the right to claim the official title of the author of the President of the Russian Federation's web site.
