EUROPEAN COUNCIL'S HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS MEETS RUSSIAN MILITARY PROSECUTOR MOSCOW, MARCH 1, 2001. /RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT/. European Council Commissioner for Human Rights Alvaro Gil-Robles is on his visit to Chechnya. This the evening he will meet the Chief military Prosecutor of Russia, Lieutenant-General of Justice Mikhail Kislitsin. Human rights in Chechnya and investigation into the crimes committed by servicemen in this republic will be in the focus of the meeting. The other day the EC High Commissioner for Human Rights met in Khankala with Commander of the Combined Federal Troops in the North Caucasus Valeri Baranov. Mr Gil-Robles supported the efforts of the Command to thoroughly look into the crimes federal servicemen committed in Chechnya. Mr Gil-Robles met with Head of the Chechen Administration Akhmad Kadyrov. The Commissioner admitted that good progress had been attained in the Chechen republic.
